Hall Effect Sensor Wires Unavailable in Aus... 200 1988

Long Time, No Post,

1988 Wagon. Been ticking off the Zero Mile List and onwards (with help from BB and a couple of trusted mechanics): The Usual Consumables, Endless Front End bits and bobs (very bumpy roads), TAB's, Flame Traps Annually, Wiring Harness, Endless Mounts, Seals, Bushes etc etc for close to a decade... When she's good she's very, very, good etc. Love the Volvo - amazing appliance, design classic , apart from rust and electrics... anyway we had a cold, wet winter and

Hard Start then Intermittent No Start led to trusted Mechanic who undertook the following repairs and advises that we need a Hall Effect Sensor part that is not in stock in Australia and needs to be shipped from Sweden...

Replaced the following:

Plugs, HT Wires, Distributor Cap, Rotor;

Trusted Mech Re-Soldered the Fuel Pump Relay;

Trusted Mech Checked the following:

AMM, O2 Sensor, Mixtures;

Discovered that Hall Effect Sensor wires insulation broken; replacement part not available in Australia (apart from maybe an old one hidden in the workshop) needs to be shipped from Sweden.

In the meantime, trusted Mechanic has MacGyer'd said Hall Effect Sensor wires back in place with a zip-tie and car is running.

Any advice, tips, links to required reading on how this works would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.
