Changing oil pan gasket on PV 444-544 1958

I want to change out my oil pan gasket on the B16B engine of my 58 444. The instruction book says this can be done by just jacking up the front of the engine and inserting spacers above the motor mounts. Is there any special thing I should know before I start trying to jack up the engine? Raising the front with a jack doesn't distort the oil pan edge or bend something further back? I guess I need to remove the front hoses to allow movement and the book says to remove the flywheel cover underneath. While I'm at it, I'll do the motor mounts which are cracked and dried out. I'm assuming this requires a similar procedure of jacking up the front enough slide out the mounts and sliding in the new?
