1988 ECU Diagnosis 200

Hey fellas, I rolled out my 88 245 (5 speed) that has been sitting in my mom's garage for the past four years. I last had her running three months ago. I jumped in this morning to back her out to wash her down and take photos (I'm going to sell her). She started fine and idled great and then after 5 minutes she died. I checked the fuel pumps and they were not working. I jumped the 4 and 6 fuses and heard them whirling away. Still no start. I replaced the ECU on an 1989 about eight years ago. As I recall, there was a simple way to diagnose it. I wish I had my Bentleys. Does anyone know what I'm talking about -- a simple way to bypass the ECU that will let it start and run (poorly) but will confirm the ECU is shot. Thanks, Rob
