Transmission interchangeability question (87 vs 90 16 valve) 700

I have an opportunity to buy for cheap, an otherwise very good condition 1987 740 sedan with only 126K miles, because the transmission has failed.
I have a 1990 745 GLE 16 valve donor wagon.
============
Assumptions:
AW72 trans in the 1990 16v, going to crawl under to verify if lockup or not.
The 1987 has an AW70/AW71 trans, possibly AW71L lockup, haven't seen yet.
==========
Questions:
Are these two trans bolt up ready, dimension wise?
If the 87 does not have a lockup and the 90 does, how hard is it to run the wire from the computer for the solenoid?
Any other caveats I should know?
