Powerstage testing ..... '89 245 200 1989

Hey Everyone,

I found a post from 2005 giving instructions on how to test the powerstage.
My PC freaked [ sync error ? ] and crashed and now after a multitude of searches I cant find that same post again.

I'm reading thru Bentley, some LH2.4 manuals and the Volvo Problem solver, but the post was more specific on which terminals to test on the powerstage.

Bentley suggests checking voltage between terminals 4 & 2 in KPII for battery voltage, but IIRC the post also suggested a second check to test the powerstage unit itself

Can you help me out with that ?

Thx,
John

'89 245 LH2.4 EZK M47 350K miles, no ignition or fuel mods.

symptoms: running great for the last 50K miles, then Saturday am car died suddenly while cruising into the parking lot at work after a 15 min freeway commute. ( ...yes jorrell the roads here are still teh suck ;-] ,,, )

-cranks, wont start
-no spark ( used Lisle spark tester)
-dizzy cap, rotor, plug wires high quality, 35K mi. on them. CPS too -Bougicord
-OBD returns no codes in pos #2 or #6.
-Swapped in new Fuel pump relay-it clicks in KPIII, but pump doesnt "hum"
-test light glows from coil neg to batt neg in KPIII. coil is Bosch 18 mo old, 14K mi.
-Fuses 4 & 6 no voltage at KPIII (new fuses btw). cannot hear pumps hum.
-25V fuse near coil OK (long ago relocated inboard & into H2O proof housing).
-other electrical functions normal -radio,windows, idiot lights, etc.
-Powerstage is a Bosch, made in USA btw - is this an original ?
