a/c control on dash panel 200 1989

I want to replace the a/c control on the dash, the one that adjusts the cold air output. . It's getting a bit hard to turn. We use the a/c regularly even in winter. . Here's the "issue": called local Volvo dealer, it's in their book but not available at all.

They did however give me the OE number, So i called a local parts place>"Carquest" with the number. They have in it their book and can easily get it, $28, and it's OEM. Go figure.

I guess the dealer just doesn't want to be bothered by older bricks. While Im at it, has anyone ever changed that control thing? its actually a "rotary switch", maybe a 'rheostat"? Seems like it's just a plug-in thing.

I really dont want to get one from a pic-n-pull. $28 ain't too bad in my book.
