using -538 ecu in 740 700

i was wondering if i could use a -538 ecu from a 1989 saab 900(2.0t according to bosch) in place of my -544 ecu in my 1986 volvo 740.

bosch says that the -538 is also an lh 2.2. what are the diffrences? similarities?

i cannot find a schematic for either ecu any longer to compare.

im hoping the -538 i pulled years ago from the upullit wont just go to waste.
