i seem to be having an issue with my 1986 740 gle wagon and this is my last resort before i give up on ol trusty and scrap her out or trade for a running vehicle.
the beginning of the month she was running good with backfires and bucking as well as a symptom like it was fighting against its own power. next day she refused to start and has been a P.I.T.A. royally since. absolutely no spark, no power to main fuel pump.
i did the following:(before you comment keep in mind that i have plenty of good spares on hand)
i swapped out the ecu, icm computer, distributor(thought the hall was bad nope)
i taped up all the wiring on both connectors behind the ac accumulator all the way down to where the wires were still ok, fuel pump relay is ok swapped with known good unit, and i taped up the wiring under p/s reservior all the way down to good insulation. the coil and power stage also replaced with known good units, the amm should be fine as well as the ias motor. fpr is good, all fuses are good,grounds underhood check out,knock sensor wiring is ok as well as hall wiring. all checks out ok.
she still refuses to kick over. shell crank but not fire up. what else could be causing the issue? i tried EVERY single solution here as well as other forums and not a darn thing.
im pretty much at wits end with this. shes been excellent but im thinking its high time she goes to volvo heaven:(
what does everyone else think?
