The tank came out of the Mroon 164E and I got it cleaned by a fellow who proclaimed
himself "the last of the Mohicans" and says he avoids the EPA because he doesn't have
any employees. Nobody else within about 60 miles cleans gas tanks here.
I got it back in and after I got all the fittings and clamps tight it started right up
but I am still getting fuel starvation on high revs and sometimes it continues so that it
willl not run at all. Today after a trip downtown I went by WalMart and it quit outside
their parking lot, so I walked in and got my stuff. By the time I came back it started and I
drove it home OK. To make matters worse the Yellow Peril, my 145E, has started doing the same
thing. I had AAA bring it home yesterday. When I got it home I hooked up the fuel pressure
gauge and turned it on and it went right up to 30 psi. So I drove it some and it died at the
peak of the neighborhood, from where I was able to coast home.
Temps have been well over 100° here, 103 yesterday and 111 today, so I am wondering
if somehow I have some winter gas (not really) and am getting vapor lock.
To me the 30 psi fuel pressure SHOULD be enough to keep from having vapor lock but maybe not.
I'll get into the filters and lines when it is cooler tomorrow.
Meanwhile, any other ideas?
