B16 Distributor Rebuild 444-544

Hi Folks

My '58 444 is still 6v and has a fairly sloppy distributor that is certainly making it run worse than it could. I've seen the 12v solid state distributors for sale and in addition to their $440 price tag I really don't want to convert to 12v. I've never had a problem even on the coldest days here in RI (~0-12 degrees F).

So I'm looking to rebuild the one I have or find a nice tight used unit. The only bushing I've seen listed on a number of sites is the lower, p/n 233263. I see an upper in a diagram, p/n 233262, but no one seems to list it.

Does anyone have any familiarity with this situation? Can the lower be modified to serve as an upper?

Thanks!

Jim
