96-960 cranks but doesnt start 900

If the 960 has a FI (Noise Suppression Relay), I would check it. In the 940 its located on the passenger side of the car by the battery, usually latched to the fender. This relay controls the voltage to the injectors. Its can intermittantly fail with heat. It is possible to resolder the channels.

This relay is interchangeable with the fan relay (if you have one) located in the same area. Might swap them and see if it fixes problem, just watch your temp :)

Does the tach move when cranking? Cause it could be a cps if that is the case.
