V90 A/C airflow stops when accelerating on road S90-V90 1997

Problem just started--anytime engine is accelerated via foot or cruise control, air conditioner airflow nearly stops. Initially, because of the immediate loss of cooling flow, I though it was the compressor cutting out, but I held my hand in front of the vent and what air is flowing is still cool. As soon as throttle pressure is decreased, full selected flow resumes.
Ideas??
