240 Engine Overheating 200

Son driving 1990 240 reported smoke and found rear heater hose broke and ran out of refrigerant. Claims he only drove a block or 2 into shell station before shutting off car. Oil level was ok. Towed car home, repaired heater hose, and started car, it ran ruff, and noticed the alternator front urethane bushing mount was washed out, checking oil now.

What checks are there to determine if motor is ok?
