Cold Start Valve? 200 1989

So, my buddies 89 245 will start every time, but it'll idle so low initially that he's gotta push on the gas to keep it going. Is this the cold start valve? It's an injector, right? Once it's running, the car is prefect. But I'm afraid it's this expensive little piece. Is there a way to check it, or confirm if this is correct?
Do I have to check the codes on a cold start to confirm this, or is there another way? Or, is there an easy way to fix this part?.... Or would a used one do the trick? Any help would be great, because it seems to be the last little annoying bug in a somewhat decent running 245. Winter's coming, and if it is this expensive little part, I'd like to figure that out before it gets really cold.
