Front Suspension-Ball Joint/Alignment Question 200 1990

Hi,

Recently posted about a problem with Moog Problem Solver ball joints here:

http://www.brickboard.com/RWD/volvo/1537484/220/240/260/280/moog_problem_solver_ball_joint_problemfront_suspension.html

I got them installed finally via my impact wrench. The problem I had was that I couldn't get them to the correct torque value-top ball joint nut on top of the strut anchor due to the combo of the spinning ball joint stud and the tight one time use nut.

Now during the front suspension operation I installed:

1. Moog Problem Solver Ball Joints (both sides)
2. Moog Problem Solver Tie Rod Ends (both sides)
3. Volvo OEM Strut Mounts (both sides)
4. Boge Control Arm Bushing (rear position in bracket) (driver's side only-I could not by any means remove the passenger side C.A. bracket or the control arm itself due to both front and rear C.A. bushing's inner steel sleeves being fused to the bolts-corrosion/rust)

Now here is my problem and question:

After putting everything back together when I make turns the steering seems a little tight at spots and the front tires screech (sounds as if you are driving at a fast speeds and are making a quick turn). I am scheduled at a local independent shop for an alignment Thursday.

But I got to thinking-maybe I put the ball joint nuts too tight on the strut anchor. When I fastened the nut down onto the strut anchors there was no up/down play between the ball joint stud and the strut anchor. They were also pretty tight as far as trying to spin the strut anchor on the ball joint stud. I figured this is how it should be, but then I got to thinking...

Not sure if the above "screeching tire" symptoms are because the front is out of alignment or ball joint flub.

Any advice much appreciated as always.

Thanks,

Travis
