How do I remove an auto shifter (the whole thing, not just the knob) 200 1991

The shifter "box" comes out the top---you didn't peel the carpet back enough to see the four 6mm bolts (10mm head) - one in each corner. The same four threaded holes are the same ones used for the plastic pins that hold a stick shift boot in place. The wire harness connections are further under the carpet. -- Dave
