A/C compressor noise... 200

BB's,

I've got a noise coming from my A/C compressor. Believe it to be the clutch bearing which is going out.

The compressor is fairly new, replaced in 2002, and the A/C was fixed last year, so it has not seen a lot of use, maybe a total of 50 to 70k since it was replaced, and only about 6k since the A/C was fixed.

Any ways the question is should I replace the whole clutch or just the bearing? The bearing is about a 1/3 the cost of a clutch.

The second question is finding just the bearing?

I was able to get the following information off of the compressor.

Tama Mfg.,
SAE-J639,
Assembly: 488-25071

Any and all thoughts on this are welcome.

Thanks in advance,

Matt
