Valve shim adjustment question 200 1980

Are you going to use hundredths of mm, or thousandths of an inch? Stay with one and don't confuse them. Use feelers in thou and measure shims with .001" caliper, or the other way. Trying to use both and convert can lead to disaster.

In any case, yes if they cut a lot off the seats, the valves now sit deeper and throw the rest off significantly.
Easy fix; grind tip of valves to compensate. All you need to do is disassemble the motor again. Which, the shop might have avoided if they'd thought of it, which, it seems many just do not do any more.
