AMM 200 1989

Just curious, how many wires are supposed to be inside that AMM?.... When we cleaned the outside screening, there were 3 wires... Like a box, with an open end. Is there supposed to be 4 wires in there?.... I remember on my 83, there was just 1 wire... So, when looking, I only expected 1 wire, and saw 3.. Should there be 4?.... Also, there was a little bit of gunk on one of the wires, and part of me wanted to try and clean it off, but the rational side of me said to just leave it alone... So I left it alone. I've heard from a few people it's best not to spray it with anything, or even look at it funny... Very delicate and very expensive, even rebuilt.. Can anyone shed some light on this for me?... Thanks in advance.
