Hey Jim!
I don't have very much experience on 1800s (although ALL my experience on them was with '66s)
but for Volvos in general 90% of the lights that are out are NOT burnt out bulbs.
Scraping bulb shells and tips and socket innards sometimes is worth its weight in gold.
European electrics seem to generate an invisible protective (nonconductive) film
that can really fool you into suspecting bad components when all you need to do is
shine them up a bit with a sharp knife.
