what is the difference between these two universal 02 sensors?

Based on the part numbers you gave, which are 0 258 986 502 & F 00H L00 056 (Those are zeroes, not capital o's... I wish places would use only lower case letters in part numbers!)

and this http://www.bosch.com.au/content/language1/downloads/Oxgen_Sensor__Cat_WEB.pdf

The difference is in the connector.

The description for: 0 258 986 502 – Three wire sensor with 12 watt heater and
grounded case.

The F 00H L00 056 part number seems to be old, or defunct somehow. Maybe it's from another country. However, this website (http://www.eraspares.com/ec/TabelloneRicerca.asp?RicercaRapida=1&Descrizione=F00HL00056&Ritorno=/ec/TabelloneNovita.asp) cross-references the F 00h L00 056 to a 0 258 986 504.

The difference between the 0 258 986 502 and 0 258 986 504 is that the first is a 12-Watt heater, and the second is an 18-Watt heater.

But don't quote me on that.
Cheers
