lLATCH system for 940 wagon?? 900

Dear volbro245,

Hope you're well. As this is a critical safety issue, this issue should be addressed to: (a) A few Volvo dealers, in different parts of the country (so answers can be compared) and (b) Volvo USA (Rockleigh, New Jersey, if you're in North America).

This is a matter, to which a specific, technically-correct answer is required.

At http://www.car-safety.org/latch.html, you may read, "Where do I get a tether anchor for my older vehicle? Contact your local dealer or your manufacturer to see if a kit specific to your older vehicle exists. Some dealers will install an anchor for free."

In a Volvo accessories catalog I found on-line some years ago, they show infant seats, which can be mounted so that they face rear-wards. The catalog is in Finnish, Swedish, Spanish and Italian. I can read the latter two entries. However, the part number (e.g., 9134606) does not show-up as valid in a database, to which I have access. These items may not have been marketed in North America.

In such a matter, an opinion - unless backed-up with a specific, valid part number - is worse than worthless: it is lethally dangerous. Thus, I'd consult several Volvo dealers and Volvo USA.

Hope this helps.

Yours faithfully,

Spook
