How to check if fuel sender is good 700 1990

So I am in the process of fixing my fuel gauge. I've already replaced the gauge so my next step is to test each system and see if it's good.

So does anyone know what kind of readings the in tank float assembly should be putting out through the wires? I am going to hook a multimeter up to it but don't know what to be looking for.

Or if someone knows of a write up that has ran through this already that would be nice as well.

Thanks!

Travis
