Tailgate Weatherstripping 200 1993

Hello All,

I'm in the midst of replacing my tailgate as the NE salt has taken it's toll and the weatherstripping is starting to flop around with no metal edge to mount to.

The "new" tailgate has been painted and the glass reinstalled, but I'm not sure about the weatherstripping. When I disassembled the tailgate the weatherstripping edge was firmly embedded into the metal groove that receives it. However, now that I'm re-installing the weatherstripping, it is very loose in that groove; sort of tight at the top, but loose on the sides and really loose at the bottom. Should I use some 3M weatherstrip adhesive? Anyone else go through this?

By the time I'm done with this project, I'll have spent around $400 so I'm a bit anal in my attempt to do a good and proper job.

Thanks again,
