Rear brake light failure 200 1989

Hi have an 89 245 dl wagon the brake light are not working,I have running lights,turn signals and head lights work fine also,checked fuse,grounds on tail lights good,have replaced the stop light switch already,had mobile mechanic come by he checked all the areas describibed,told me that it was a problem in the headlight switch,so went to salvage yard got 3 out of various 240 models and am still having the same problem?? so where should I check next?
