fuel pumps won't run 200 1986

"There is power to 6 but no pump noise."

You've been stung by the World Market wasp. Yes, it says "fuel pump" on the fuse cover next to #6, but you might look closely and see some parentheses. #6 is indeed the main fuel pump fuse for Euro market cars with k-jet fuel systems, but in your car it is nothing but a spare. Power to it is directly from the battery -- that is why the memorable mantra to jumper 4 to 6 is able to bypass the real fuel pump fuse which is the blade fuse under the hood.

So, your test, jumping 4 to 6 and not hearing the pumps is a significant clue. I would ask you to repeat that next time. Maybe it is your ignition switch, but your clue did not point that way. If you were accurate in describing the lack of motion with 4-to-6 jumped, the more likely problem is your main pump has failed, and the wear that failed it may exist because your tank pump has not worked in a long time.
