1993 940 Regina engine quits then immediately restarts (2-2-3 code) 900

Four months ago the engine quit running in my 1993 940 NA Regina wagon. My wife was driving at about 50 mph when the engine suddenly stopped. All dash warning lights came on and she coasted to the highway shoulder. The engine immediately restarted on the first attempt and ran fine after that.

Since then I have replaced the fuel pump and the crankshaft position sensor. The old fuel pump was not worn out so I doubt it was the problem. The crankshaft sensor was the original 1993 yellow label version and I thought it was likely to be the problem. However the same problem happened yesterday, the 2nd time in 4 months. I was driving at about 30 mph when the engine suddenly quit. It restarted on the first attempt and ran fine.

I ran the diagnostic LED check on the fuel injection system and it reported a 2-2-3 code. 2-2-3 is "signal missing to/from Idle Air Control valve". Is there any way that an IAC valve can cause a non-idling engine to suddenly stop ?

Thanks,

Mike
