1993 240 NO NIGHT TIME TAIL LIGHTS ON PASS. SIDE...HELP!! 200 1993

TOOK OFF WHITE CLIPWITH ALL THE COLORED WIRES IN THERE. Took an emery board and rubbed a little, no good. What should I do? Do I have to flip open the white thing and clean which one..how to clean it?? Do I have to watch that I don'e tear anything or ruin it?? not sure what to do or if I'm on the right track, thanks, Lynn..yes i do have the right directional and brake light, thanks
