Crank position sensor does the brand matter? 200

I'm having an issue with my 89 240 and have narrowed it down to the CPS or ignition module. I have a spare module and I'm going to replace the cps, mine has a small section of insulation missing although it has been taped with electrical tape. This car is giving me grief. It is a one owner 54k original mile car. I recently replaced a head gasket and then the trouble started. The ECU and Fuel pump relay went out simultaneously. Now I have another cranks but no start issue. Swapped computers again but still no go. This is the only thing left. Broad range in prices for the CPS depending on who makes it. Thanks
