1993 240 overheating 200 1993

just got a 1993 240 5-speed wagon with 247,000 and it overheated on the way home. the thermostat, waterpump, and heater hoses have all been replaced. did not lose any coolant just seems to not be circulating. the expansion tank was ice cold while the block and heater was HOT. seems to be very little pressure when removing the cap. could it just be the cap??? I removed the radiator (which needs cleaned, but flushed it out inside and water is flowing through it fine) and the fan (clutch seems fine) could the waterpump be not functioning properly? (its definitely pushing water around)I have a couple other 240's and this is the first time i've seen anything like this... thanks

jesse
