Can a TPS be 1/2 broken? 200 1988

I am testing my Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) and am getting a good reading on one side but the other side I'm not sure if I have good contact or if it has just failed. It is very difficult to reach when installed.

From my wiring diagrams it looks like this would be the cold start side.
If that is the case would I have a bad idle until the car warmed up and would it be bad low RPM from a lean mix?

This would contradict my Rich running problem.
