Kick-down cable missing o-ring?? 700 1989

Recently obtained an AW70L from a 1990 donor car at the PNP to install in my 89 740 sedan. I have replaced all the seals, rear bushing and filter & gasket. I also installed a new kick-down cable (Aftermarket from FCP Groton). However, after I snapped in the outer casing into the transmission hole, I realized there was no o-ring to seal the casing onto the body. All the other openings have some sort of rubber seal to keep in trans fluid and keep out water. I am afraid that if I drive this car into deep water (hurricanes and strong thunderstorms here in Texas frequently flood roads) water will enter the trans and eventually dissolve the clutches. Removing it to instal an o-ring will snap off the ends and I will have to buy a new cable. Should I just apply a bead of silicon to the area where the casing enters the trans?
Thanks for any suggestions.
