Hello, I am about to replace my strut inserts with OE Sachs struts. I am wondering if the strut bellows are necessary to do the job. I noticed that the previous "mechanics" who replaced one of the strut mounts did not put the bellows back on that side. Incidentally- or not so- that is the side that has given me the most problems in terms of rattling noises and strut wearing out. I am wondering if there might be a washer/ spacer that holds the bellows in place on top of the strut. The Bentley manual mentions something like this but it is not clear. Thank you
