Can bad IAC valve cause engine to stop at 25-30 mph ? 900

About once a month my 93 940 Regina NA wagon suddenly stops running, usually when driving about 25-30 mph. There is no warning such as bucking or hesitating, the engine just quits running. After stopping on the shoulder of the road, usually the engine restarts immediately although one time it wouldnt restart for a couple of minutes. Once the engine restarts it runs fine for a few more weeks.

In every case, a diagnostic LED check on the fuel injection system reports a 2-2-3 code. I clear the code each time and find that it returns a few weeks later after the next engine stop episode. 2-2-3 is "signal missing to/from Idle Air Control valve". Is there any way that an IAC valve can cause a non-idling engine to suddenly stop and sometimes refuse to start ?

Fuel pump and crankshaft position sensor have been recently replaced with no effect on the problem.

Thanks,

Mike
