Replacing the Parking Brake Cover 200 1989

Hi Joning52,

You remove two screws from the lower rear sides of the center console. There is a flat metal tab at the front center bottom of the console that is the only anchor at front (for a total of three). You then twist and turn the console so you can move it forward releasing the center console from the front retaining tab. You may need to remove the seat warmer button and, if fitted, the electric side view mirror adjustment level buttons.

1. Push both front seats fully forward.
2. Twist the seat belt receivers so they point towards the rear or the car, freeing up the center console you want to remove.
3. Remove the rear seat courtesy light reflect at the top rear. Either push the light assembly through the slot it sits in or disconnect the wire from the light and reflector assembly.
4. Remove the two screws that retain the center console. Retain the screws and color matching plastic relief washers.
5. You can start tilting the old console from the rear up. You may need to partly raise the parking brake lever.
6. As you tilt and free the center console:
- Remove the seat warmer switches from the console.
- Remove the electric side view mirror adjustment
switches from the console at the front bottom edge.
Note: You may want to service the seat heater switches (new bulbs) and, if fitted, the electric mirror adjuster switches. The Electric mirror switches can get carboned or gummed up if a few too many fast food meals are spilled on the center console.
7. Remove rear ashtray and center console cubby.
Note: You may want to clean the area under the console and seats as well as any parts you'll reuse from the old console you are replacing.
8. Installation of your new center console is the reserve of removal.

Does that hepkat (help)?

cheers,

dud.
