Its a miracle! 200

Some of you may have noticed Ive had an ongoing issue with our ‘89 wagon getting an “intermittent high idle.” Ive been to more than one mechanic to try and solve this issue. So far no luck.

HOWEVER, couple of days ago I had my mechanic replace the speedo, as the odometer and trip meter ceased to function. Also the Cruise Control had stopped working. He found a speedo unit from a pic n pull, with 173K showing on it. He removes my cluster and installs the ‘new’ speedo, simple process, so off I go.

Can you guess what’s coming? YES, to my surprise the fast idle issue is now GONE & the CC is now working. Everything is as it should be. Why? Who knows? Long as it's all working properly I don’t need to know the ‘why’ of it, tho I am curious.

I sincerly doubt it was replacing the speedo that did the job itself, but it MAY have played a final small part of it.

My thanks to all who had suggestions for this issue, maybe altogether plus that ‘new’ speedo is what finally “made it so”.
