Exhaust question 200 1981

I've got a buddy's 144 living at my house.. I got it running after ten years of storage, and I really like the exhaust note. It's a raspy, buzzy sound, that reminds me of old Alfa twin cam exhaust. The 144 has a straight pipe back to the rear muffler, no mufflers/cats before the axle. I recently fell into a '81 245 with an M46, and it needed exhaust work. I bought a Starla system (rebadged Walker) for an '81 Turbo, 2.5", which was supposed to bolt directly to the head pipe, bypass the cat, and be a straight pipe to the rear muffler. It bolted in just fine, but doesn't sound fun and buzzy, it sounds tragic and farty. What rear muffler am I looking for? is it a stock 144 piece? some performance unit? Do any of you know what I'm talking about?

Ignore the crappy intro, outro, and winblown mic halfway through
