Cold Start Valve question 140-160

What fuel system do you have? A given carb or injection setup isn't universal for any given year, but rather, a given setup shows up in different years in different markets.

So the year alone won't tell you what you've got, because there was a lot of overlap.

A US-spec '69 probably has Strombergs (or maybe SUs) and it might have a "hot start valve" but no "cold start valve." (Should have a manual choke for cold starting.) Stromberg chokes are completely goofy (albeit effective) and are indeed based on a valve type enrichment thingy rather than a standard butterfly, so I guess you could conceivably call the choke a "cold start valve."

The K-jet used a cold start valve (normally called an air bypass) in conjunction with its cold start injector. The valve was used to raise the idle speed; this showed up in the US around '73-74.

I have no idea whether D-jet had anything that could be called a "cold start valve." If your '69 has D-jet I'll be more than a little surprised.
