No power when the engine is "cold 200 1984

1984 244, B23F, LH 2.0, M46, 236,000 miles.

The car starts right up and idles like a sewing machine, but it has no power to speak of until it has been running for at least 2 minutes. Let up on the clutch, give it a little gas and attempt to pull away from the curb...it stumbles and will die unless I push the clutch in right away. Funny thing is that it will rev normally in neutral w/no load.

This ONLY happens if the car has been sitting for a couple of days. If I drive it every day, it's not a problem. It also happens on the first start of the day only.

Wiring harness was replaced back in 2003. Fuel pumps are less than five years old. Amount of gas in the tank does not matter.

I've replaced, in the last week: plugs, wires, rotor, fuel filter, air filter. Checked valve clearances and they did not need adjustment (last adjustment in 2007 at 220K).

Funky air mass meter?
