Cold Start Valve question 140-160 1969

Hello and welcome,

The part you are describing that has a white plastic cover is called the temperature compensator and although expensive are still available new.

AFAIK, there was never an asbestos heat shield, just a pair of heat shields made of sheet metal.

I have seen the use of an insulator spacer for each carburetor, but I am not sure if that was an update.
