transmission code 114 $4,500 S90-V90

I've never experienced a bad mode selector switch so I can't speak with experience on it. The book says once the code AT-114 is tripped, the switch will only operate in "E" mode. So you shouldn't have any slippage.

It says the possible sources for this code are :

1- Open circuit in signal cables or ground lead
2- Short circuit to supply lead in signal cable
3- The "E" and "S" buttons have been in the "mid position" for more than 30 seconds
4- Defective Mode Selector
5- Contact resistance in terminals

The mechanic claims to have don #5, #3 you can easily take that out of the equation by cycling the switch buttons, #4 can be purchased for anywhere from $30 (used) to $90 (new). (I provided this info in a previous note). You can use a multi-meter on the leads at the switch to check #1 & #2.

I'd be willing to scan the 5 pages of fault tracing for the Mode Selector Switch and e-mail them to you if you would find that of benefit.

Hope this helps.
