95 960 Engine RPM at 55mph 900 1995

Hi,

Can someone confirm what my engine rpm should be at a given speed. Reason being my fuel mileage is pretty bad even on the hiway. Maybe getting 18mpg. I've had this car about 10years now and remember getting 25+ on the hiway. Engine runs and idles smooth.

This is roughly where rpm's are at now:

55mph = 2100
60mph = 2400
65mph = 2600

Couple of things maybe worth mentioning:

- Some quick/ twitchy shifting through the gears at low speeds and going uphill.
- Engine will not crank over if it's in neutral.


Would appreciate any feedback.
