ANSWER Fuel pump symptoms 700

Your symptoms indicate the fuel pump as about third from last as the likely culprit in my book. All the usual suspects are first. Lets assume this is a Bosch LH2.4 car (round coil, automatic).

Fuel Pump Relay (actually, I think it is a "system" relay on your car)
RSR if you have it
Power stage
Fuel pump relay socket melted or oxidized

I would suspect all of these and more before jumping to the Bosch Main pump. Yes, you have 1/2 million miles and if it is the original pump, it owes you nothing. But they rarely go bad and this behavior is not common when they do.
