re: 87 245 auto - In tank fuel pump sock questions 200

Hi All,

When I replaced my in tank fuel pump, I put "air filter" like in tank fuel pump sock along with it. I was happy with this material because my old sock was clogged and collapsed. When I unfolded the old sock, the part of sock was splitted in half and there were very tiny wire metal particles (from sock) laying in between. Luckly, these metal particles never made up to the fuel pump. No reference photos.... Recently, I ordered one, it's made out of metal like material just like the one I replaced originally.

Can you clarify pros and cons of having these socks? What are your experiences and can you please share?

Thank you as always.
