I finally got a chance on New Years Day to stop by one of the 'nicer' junkyards in Indianapolis to see if they had any bricks (needed a dome light and a few small trim bits). To my surprise, they had a very nice 1994 940 naturally aspirated wagon that looked quite complete. Bonus score was a third row seat that they said I could have for $12.59 complete all hardware and belts (thinking it was a mistake, I did ask that the yard rep check with the manager to confirm the price, and the manager said the same thing).
Based on what I could find, it looks like this car overheated literally 45 miles shy of 200,000 but otherwise looked to be cared for with lots of OEM replacement parts under the hood and a 2007 timing belt change sticker. Interior was clean, too.
My question to the board is if there is anything I should scavenge now for my 940 wagon to save for a rainy day? It is running well (knock on wood) and I know I should use new parts for most preventative maintenance items (hoses, heater water valve, etc).
The yard is 'Pull-a-Part' on Massachusetts Ave if anyone is in the area. I closed all open doors and lowered the hood to keep as much weather off the car as possible.
