Double DIN in my Wagon 900 1993

So Crutchfield seems to be out of touch on the 940's. Speakers they say will not fit, are in my car with factory grills re-installed. They do not even acknowledge the existence of the dash speakers. This is extremely unusual but no company is infallible.

The PO installed excellent infinity speakers (5.25" separates in the front) but cheaped out on he head unit. I "need" bluetooth integration and Pandora but I would like to have google maps/navigation displayed. I have come to depend on my cell phone navigation in the urban canyons of Chicago where standard GPS units do not work. What, if anything, prevents the install of a double DIN head unit in the 940 dash? The only two things I can think of are the cigarette lighter (easily relocated) and maybe one or more of the relays.

Thoughts?

P.S. I will be building a small sub enclosure to fill the space behind the driver rear wheel with one of the newer shallow depth 8" woofers. I have just gotten so spoiled by my wife's upgraded Sony unit in our Focus that I really almost have to do this.
