Wiper arms with fins - good or bad? 700 1990

My car's wiper blade arms have fins on them - I think so that the blades press harder against the window and don't skip. It's nice that they don't skip, but I notice that the blades move up the window a lot faster than they move down it.

I'm pretty sure these are OEM blades. Are the blades meant to catch air? Snow? something else? I wonder if the wipers would move more symmetrically up and down with different arms.

Does anyone with wiper arms without fins have experience with arms with fins?

Happy Bricking
