SU HS6 carburetors 444-544

previous post duplicates my state of mind--total blank.
I'll try again.
I have a beautiful pair of SU's that were rebuilt by Barongray a couple of years ago, and decided to install them on the 544 I've been working on for 6 years. I had a 2bbl Weber on it for the past year and it has run fine-even to St Louis and back. I removed the Weber, installed the SU's and cannot get it to idle at all. It starts and runs great-- at about 1800 to 2000 rpm. I have downloaded, read, and practically memorized over 20 pages of tune up procedures and nothing works. I have took them apart and back together at least 5 times, and still cannot find the problem.
I realize anyone that might help would have a LOT of 'did you do this, or check something else' type questions which I would be happy to answer--but probably not feasible here. My phone # is 918-786-4321 if anyone would be interested in giving me a call,or would call anyone interesed in my problem. Any response will be appreciated. I am in NE Oklahoma. JIM
