Can you check for leaves etc. restricting A/C evaporator without big dismantling? 200 1979

Apparently leaves or leaf fragments can get into the A/C system and be lodged on the surface of the evaporator so restricting air flow.

Is it possible to somehow check for this obstruction and remove leaves with fingers or vacuum cleaner nozzle maybe via the "fresh air/recirculated air" flap valve so without dismantling the combined aircon & heating unit.

This unit on early 240s seems a nightmare as took me an entire weekend to dismantle almost everything under the dash and then the unit itself to install new blower motor and resistor years ago.
