ANSWER 1970 1800E overdrive 1800 1970

Hello,

Switched power from the fuse box goes to the overdrive switch on the steering column. When you throw the switch, power goes to the overdrive light 1st and then down to the 4th gear lock out switch and if you are in 4th gear, then to the overdrive solenoid.

So even if you are not in 4th gear, the overdrive light should come on if you move the overdrive switch.

Use the wiring diagram provided by Phil S. to help determine the problem.

Start with the fuse.
